Daniel Piper is an author, comedian and recovering poet. He has appeared on television and at festivals around the world, and his debut poetry and short story collection, Arbitrary and Unnecessary, was published in 2018. In 2023, after a quiet few years (for which he blames the coronavirus pandemic and changes to the Instagram algorithm), he wrote a spy novel, Secret Agent Luke Warm and the Demented Billionaire Who Keeps Stealing Submarines. This became a huge hit after going viral on BookTok1, catapulting him into a world of glamorous parties and literary soirées. It was around this time that he began writing The Diary of An Author, offering readers a tantalising glimpse at writerly life in the upper echelons of the global literati.

Piper strongly refutes claims that the book went viral for being bad.
